2021 The Redman
WINE PILOT
A classic in waiting, this 2021 Cabernet Shiraz is serene with all its pieces in their perfect place. Composed and highly complex as it delivers wafts of fresh cassis, gravel, black olive, Italian herbs and peppery spice. Vibrant youthful flavours are underlined by fine and chalky tannins that hold the palate tight through to an extremely long finish. This wine will sing for years to come. 97 Points, Angus Hughson, Wine Pilot, August 2024
SHANTEH WALE - THE WINE COMPANION
"Sourced from 30-year-old vines and over 100 years of expertise between the four generations of family winemakers at Redman. Matured in French oak for two years. 2021 The Redman is displaying its excellent vintage in a purity of just-picked blackberries, wild raspberry and persimmon. Christmas cherries, rosella florals and blood plums. It's slinky as it winds down the palate. Pulpy red fruits sit generously in the middle. Oak imparts classic baking spices, nutmeg, cinnamon and ground ginger. Tannins have relaxed and have melded nicely into the wine – they provide a structured framework whilst feeling shapely and satisfying. A wonderful expression of the great Australian Claret blend, it's very worthy of your time." 96 Points, Shanteh Wale, Wine Companion, 17 September, 2024
Q WINE REVIEWS
"The best of the best from Redman Wines, The Redman is a blend of Cabernet and Shiraz (70/30). An old school style, this is worth getting around if you prefer traditional winemaking. Proven to develop with age, this is a keeper. It sees two years in French oak and reveals stewed fruit, blackberries and blackcurrants on an inviting opening. Leather, bay leaf and shimmers of earth complement the fruit adding fabulous savoury nuances. A super-fine spice crawls through almost in stealth mode with dark chocolate and sweet vanilla a byproduct of the oak. Licorice rides long and leaves a lasting impression. The growth shown over a few days of tasting only confirms its ability to live long. Well played." 94/100 Q Wine Reivews
